Description of obverse and reverse
The obverse of the gold coin has been struck with the effigy of His Majesty King Juan Carlos.
Centrally placed on the reverse is a rendering of the seated statue of King Alphonse X the Wise, sculpted by J. Alcoverro for the steps of the main façade of the National Library of Spain. The latent image, originally developed by the Royal Spanish Mint, shows our Mintmark in one angle, and the year of mintage (2008) in the other angle.
