Description of obverse and reverse

Obverse. The obverse features the basketball ball, on the top there are three stars with an inscription Latvia underneath, to the right of it there is a semicircular numeral 2008 signifying year, the inscription 1 LATS is at the left bottom.
Reverse. Two athletes playing basketball and the semi-circled inscription BASKETBOLS below right. Latvian basketball has got its long-standing traditions and is proud by its champions. Beautiful victories and the strongest players became the legends of the world basketball. The Latvian Basketball Union (established in 1923) is one of the eight founders of the International Basketball Federation. Latvia won the First European Men’s Basketball Championship in 1935. The Latvian women’s basketball team TTT and its historical records of winning 17 European Championships and 18 Championships of the USSR have yet to be surpassed.
