Description of obverse and reverse
Obverse:in the centre there is the emblem of the Bank of Russia (double-headed eagle with the spread wings), below which is the semicircular inscription “ÁÀÍÊ ÐÎÑÑÈÈ”(Bank of Russia), framed with a circle of small dots and inscriptions along the rim: on the top it reads: “ÄÂÀ ÐÓÁËß” ( Two roubles), at the bottom: on the left: the metal’s designation and its alloy ,in the centre: the issue date “2008 “, on the right: the chemically pure metal content and the trade mark of the mint.
Reverse: on the top: on the left on the mirror section there is a scientist’s outlined profile portrait, on the right on the matted surface there are formulas’ and diag’ fragments, at the bottom: on the left on the matted surface there is an inscription in two lines “ËÀÍÄÀÓ Ë.Ä.” (Landau L.D.) , on the right in the mirror field there are dates in two lines”1908” and “1968”.
