Description of obverse and reverse
Obverse: over the outer ring diameter there is an inscription in Tajic language «×ÓÌҲÓÐÈÈ ÒÎ×ÈÊÈÑÒÎÍ» («Republic of Tajikistan) and over the asterisks there is a face value in written «ÏÀÍ× ÑÎÌÎÍÈ» (Five somoni), in the centre of the disc there is a figure «5» (face value), above the figure there is the National Emblem of the Republic of Tajikistan framed by the national patterns. The year of mintage (2008) is indicated below. The metal symbol is to the right of the figure.
Reverse: over the outer ring diameter there is an inscription ü «ÑÀÐÄÀÔÒÀÐÈ ÀÄÀÁȨÒÈ ÒÎ×ÈÊ ÀÁÓÀÁÄÓËËÎҲÈ ÐÓÄÀÊÈ» (“Founder of the Tajik literature Abuabdullohi Rudaki”, in the centre of the disc there is the poet’s portrait, to the right of the portrait there is a scroll with an inscription «1150 ÑÎË» (1150 Years)and the pen as the symbol of the poet’s work.
