Description of obverse and reverse |
Reverse: the coins design contains the new modern wonders of the world as voted for by the public, they are - The Taj Mahal, Christ Redeemer, The Great Wall of China, Chichén Itzá, The Roman Colosseum, Petra, Machu Picchu. These are in fine detail around the central image of the coin. The centre of the coin is graced by The Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt which is the only one of the original Ancient Wonders still standing, and perhaps the greatest cultural feat of all time. What makes this coin even more striking is the layer of sand that covers the central image, which has been encapsulated under a thin plate of glass. This very sand was collected from the site of The Great Pyramid in Giza in September 2007. |
