Description of obverse and reverse

Reverse: The Perth Mint developed the innovative locket coin concept to allow free-moving objects to be showcased within a transparent capsule. To celebrate Australia’s status as one of the world’s most abundant sources of natural riches, the reverse design of Treasures of Australia – Opals portrays an abstract interpretation of Australia’s stark and beautiful landscape, with the inscription “TREASURES OF AUSTRALIA” surrounding a halfcircle locket showcasing 1-carat of Australian white opals.
Obverse: coins are issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965. The identical obverse designs bear the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
