Description of obverse and reverse
Obverse: in the centre of the disc there is an emblem of the Bank of Russia (double-headed eagle with the dropping wings), below which is the cemicircular inscription "ÁÀÍÊ ÐÎÑÑÈÈ" ("Bank of Russia"), framed with a circle made of dots and the inscriptions on circumference – above - "ÑÒÎ ÐÓÁËÅÉ" ("One hundred roubles"), below on the left the metal and the alloy, in the centre – the date of issue "2009 ", on the right – the content of chemically pure metal and the mintmark.
Reverse: on the top along the edge there is a facsimile signature "Í.ÃÎÃÎËÜ" ("N.Gogol"), under it there is a contour portrait of the writer, in the middle part of the disc there are huts, trees and wicker fences of the bowery under the starry sky with a luna hook, below is a mile stone, the coach with triplets in team racing in the cloud of dust, on the right there is an architectural panorama of St. Petersburg with two man’s silhouettes on the foreground – the first wearing civil clothes on the bridge and the second in the military uniform on the embankment, in the lower part of the disc framed with an oval there is a man sitting at the desk holding a geese plum in his hand, behimd him there is a man sitting in the armchair in pose of the storyteller and the man’s figure in half-cap, in front of them there are four men standing wearing – official coats, in the upper part of the oval there are dates "1809-1852".
