Obverse: in the centre there is the emblem of the Bank of Russia (double-headed eagle with the dropping wings), below which is the semicircular inscription
"ÁÀÍÊ ÐÎÑÑÈÈ" (BANK OF RUSSIA), framed with the circle of dots and inscriptions on the circumference: at the top – "One thousand roubles" ("ÎÄÍÀ ÒÛÑß×À ÐÓÁËÅÉ"), at the bottom on the left – metal and alloy, in the centre – the date of issue"2009 ", on the right – the content of chemically pure metal and the mintmark.
Reverse: on the left there are market scanes (a fragment of a miniature picture of the "Illuminated Compiled Chronicle" of the XVI century), on the right there are images of ancient coins, along the circumference an inscription "ÈÑÒÎÐÈß ÄÅÍÅÆÍÎÃÎ ÎÁÐÀÙÅÍÈß ÐÎÑÑÈÈ" (History of the money circulation in Russia).
